Upa Yoga

Upa-Yoga essentially means “sub-yoga” or “pre-yoga”. Because of its many immediate and evident benefits, the word Upa Yoga in Indian languages is commonly used to denote “usefulness.”

One aspect of Upa-Yoga is towards activating the lubricants and energy nodes in the joints so that the rest of the system begins to function.

Upa-Yoga is a simple yet powerful system of exercise that activates the joints, muscles, and energy system. Based on a sophisticated understanding of the body’s mechanics, Upa-Yoga dispels inertia in the body’s energy and brings ease to the whole system. It relieves physical stress and tiredness.

This 2-hour yoga workshop introduces easy-to-practice yet effective techniques to increase overall vitality. These practices help cope with the hectic pace of everyday life and improve wellbeing in all areas of life.

Please come to the class on an empty stomach, make sure you finish any heavy meal at least 4 hours before the class, a snack 2.5 hours before the class, and a drink (other than water) at least 1.5 hours before the class break up.

For children (ages 13 and younger): Finish a full meal 2.5 hours before class, a snack 1.5 hours before class, and a drink 1 hour before class.

Due to the nature of the exercises taught, there are some contraindications. Individuals falling under any of the following categories are currently not eligible to participate:

  • Women who are currently pregnant.
  • Anyone who has had major open surgery in the past 6 months
  • Anyone who has had a laparoscopic procedure or a serious muscle injury in the last 6 weeks
  • If you have an active hernia
